Quality Check Tutorial (Coming Soon)
This tutorial will be approximately 10-minutes long, and will walk evaluators through a quality-review process to ensure that their formative assessments are high-quality and appropriate documentation of educators’ performance. Look for this resource soon.
Formative Assessment Examples
Examples of formative assessments demonstrating the detail required for exemplary/proficient, needs improvement, and unsatisfactory overall ratings (Available here and here). Increasing complexity is required for less-than-proficient overall ratings.
Formative Assessment Template Worksheets
These worksheets are templates evaluators may use to compose formative assessments. They are a hybrid of the Claim-Evidence-Interpretation-Judgment system and the Massachusetts regulations on educator evaluation.
Timelines for Formative Assessments
You should be working on the completion of formative assessments for all educators on one-year plans and other educators with midpoints of their cycles occurring in the next few weeks. For this process, you should prioritize educators with ratings of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory, as well as those educators whose artifacts and observations merit such a rating. Formative Assessments for these educators should occur between January 15 and February 1. You should complete formative assessments for educators likely to earn overall ratings of proficient or exemplary soon after that, and definitely before February break.
