Office of educator effectiveness
MEMORANDUM
TO: | BPS Educators |
FROM: | Ross Wilson, Assistant Superintendent for Educator Effectiveness |
CC: | Principals and headmasters |
DATE: | September 28, 2012 |
SUBJECT: | October 1 Self-Assessment and Goal Proposal Deadline |
Dear Educator,
As you know, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approved new regulations governing the evaluation of educators on June 28, 2011. These regulations required the Boston Public Schools to implement the new regulations for the evaluation of educators in its 11 turnaround schools in the 2011-2012 school year, and in all BPS schools in the 2012-2013 school year.
The successful implementation of this system requires actions by all educators. By October 1, all educators must submit a self-assessment and propose goals to their evaluator. The evaluator will subsequently review your goals, and approve or return them for further editing. After your goals are approved, you will identify and list action steps and propose them to your evaluator. By November 1 the educator plan, which includes goals and action steps must be finalized. All of these steps must be entered in the Employee Development and Feedback System at http://eval.mybps.org.
